Choosing your Location
Even though Verbier only began its ski boom in the 60s, it
does not actually resemble a purpose-built ski resort. There is very little actual ski in / ski out accommodation. The town is rapidly expanding and so you'll find that some accommodation could be a little walk from the town centre - and the town is hilly.
There is a free bus service which operates in the daytime (see Local Transportation) which is good to get you to and from the slopes. At night however you will have to fend for yourself (unless your accommodation provides a chauffeur).
If you are looking for accommodation close to the ski lifts, the two main lift areas are Médran and Savoleyres. The area around the Médran lift station is also home
to the après ski scene. The Savolyeres lift station is in the area by the same name. If you are looking for accommodation close to the highest concentration of bars, restaurants and shops, look near Place
Centrale which is the centre of the modern Verbier resort.
Some place names
The town at the bottom of the hill (before you get to Verbier) is Le Châble.
Verbier Village is not the centre of Verbier; it is the old village (which is on your way into the Verbier resort).
The area between Savolyeres and Médran is where you will find the highest concentration of chalets.
