• Climbing in Verbier

There are lots of mountaineering and rockclimbing possibilities based out of Verbier for all levels of expertise, not to mention the nearby mountain ranges of Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn.

This section describes summer and winter climbing on all types of terrain and all the climbing disciplines: rock climbing, via ferrata, alpine routes, ice climbing, ice gully climbing, mixed climbing, ski mountaineering - you name it.

The major summits in the region are the
Grand Combin and the Petit Combin which can be hiked or skied.

    Verbier is on the
Haute Route, which runs from Chamonix to Zermatt and can also be hiked or skied. Starting from Verbier it is a 4-5 day trip to Zermatt. Add a couple more days  for a Chamonix start. There is also a longer Walker's Haute Route which avoids the glaciers.

We've also included sections on Hiring a Mountain Guide, Mountaineering Training Courses, Safety in the Mountains, nearby Mountain Huts, and the Weather.
