• Canyoning near Verbier

    You're hesitating between rockclimbing and watersports? Why not combine the two and go canyoning. The mountainous Swiss canton of Valais is ideal for canyoning. There are many possibilities close to Verbier. There's even a company that takes you down by moonlight.

    Go with a specialist to  maximize your thrills in a safe environment.  Also the canyoning provider will usually supply the essential equipment: harness, booties, helmet, and wetsuit. There are half day and full day options.

      Marécottes 3 canyons (Val d'Illiez)

      "La Salanfe" - Perfect for friends or families and suitable for beginners, there is a footpath alongside this route so you can choose to avoid certain sections (or have another go on the most fun ones!) This route has lots of jumps, slides and even a tyrolienne over the waterfall.
      Best time of year = mid-April to end October. Timing: half-day trip.

      "Triege" - Jumps, slides, and rappels, this route is a little more sportive than "La Salanfe" and requires a little experience. It takes you through a narrow gorge.
      Best time of year = mid-June to end October. If you do not go with a canyon provider, you need authorisation to canyon here: 41 (0) 27 771 7250. It's graded (Swiss):
      3a3IV. Timing: half-day trip.

      "Tinda" - For experienced cayoneers, this granite-lined canyon has one slide and rappel after the other. Best time of year = mid-June to end October.
      Timing: half-day trip.

    There are also many canyons close by in the Val d'Aoste, France, and other Swiss cantons. There are even tour companies based out of Valais that will take you there.

      Gondo (Val Zwischbergen, near the Col du Simplon)

      On the Swiss side, close to the Italian border, over the Col du Simplon, the granite Gondo canyon offers a magnifescent canyoning descent, graded (Swiss)
